What happened to Angel Reese? LSU forward misses game after getting benched by Kim Mulkey

After losing to Colorado to start the season, LSU has worked hard to get back on track. Reese was benched in the second half of LSU's fourth game. She missed her team's game against Southeastern Louisiana three nights later.

Reese did not join LSU when it got off the bus or during pregame warmups against Southeastern Louisiana on Friday, Nov. 17. Ron Higgins of LSU Rivals reported that Kim Mulkey would address Reese's absence after the game.

Mulkey kept her Reese absence response simple after the Lady Tigers' 23-point win over Southeastern Louisiana: Angel was clearly not in uniform. This basketball squad has Angel, so we expect to meet her soon."

Just days before, Reese was benched for the entire second half of LSU's 30-point triumph over Kent State on Nov. 14. The first half saw Reese score 11 points and grab five rebounds in 13 minutes against Kent State. LSU led by two at halftime.

After halftime, Reese sat on the bench for the third and fourth quarters as LSU defeated Kent State 109-79. After the game, Mulkey only said Reese's benching was a "coach's decision." Mulkey reportedly dislikes Reese's attitude.

A social media rivalry between Reese's mother, Angel Reese Webb, and Flau'jae Johnson's mother, Kia Brooks, adds to the in-house tension.

Reese uploaded the LSU women's basketball team's final score graphic after the Southeastern Louisiana game Friday then wrote a mysterious post Sunday morning, a day before the Tigers' game versus Texas Southern.
