Former NFL wide receiver Devon Wylie dead at 35

Devon Wylie, a 35-year-old former Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans wide receiver, died Monday, his family confirmed.

“We wanted to make this post so people who knew and loved Devon could learn of his passing because we can't reach everyone in this hard time,” the post said.

One cannot explain the pain of losing a brother, friend, and amazing uncle. Devon was full of love and joy.

Always making us laugh with his football talents, guitar jams, goofy jokes and voices, back-flip tricks, humorous conversation, Star Wars obsessed discussion, Halo nights, and beautiful grin. He will always be missed.”

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Devon Wylie #19 returns a punt against the Indianapolis Colts in the first half at Arrowhead Stadium on December 23, 2012.

Wylie was a prodigy at Granite Bay High School in California and played at Fresno State from 2007-11, catching 56 passes in 13 games in his final season.

Wylie also led the WAC with 15.38 yards per punt return and scored twice against No. 10 Nebraska and No. 5 Boise State.

In the college football All-Star East-West Shrine Bowl, he returned four punts for 54 yards.
